Hi Victoria
We are looking at the Portland Regency Hotel and Spa in September this year. Is that located in Downtown/Arts District as that’s where we want to be and won’t have a car.
Thanks for your article, it’s really helpful!
Hey hey Tracey!
Yes, you would be in Old Port/Downtown – pretty much where I’d stay myself if I were to visit without the car/for the first time!
Great choice, enjoy your time in Portland! 🙂
Hi Victoria, thank you for this – very helpful! Any idea why hotels in Portland are SO expensive? Even some of the “budget” hotels I’ve found are well over $300 per night.
Hi Erica,
thanks for your message!
Sorry to hear you are having troubles finding a good affordable place, 300 USD per night budget sounds outrageous indeed!
I just checked there are some options for cheaper, but again, I dont know when you are going and how much in advance you are planning your trip (this is exactly why we recommend everyone to book as much in advance as possible with free cancellation option).
It might be that you are looking in some very busy days, but in general covid and inflation together really made the difference in the travel market and I also feel like the prices for when I travel grew about twice 🙁
Hope you will manage to find something, you can also check airbnb.com (but it has dynamic pricing, so probably will not be cheaper) and VRBO, and Expedia
Hope that helps,
have a great trip!
