BONUS: Top 3 beaches you should not miss in Rhodes
I have already talked about the best areas to stay in Rhodes Island and mentioned the must-see beaches in each town, but now I will give the top 3 additional beaches that definitely must be on your travel itinerary.
These beaches can be easily visited with a less than an hour drive no matter where you are based on the island and I highly recommend renting a car as there is no good public transportation for them. It also allows you to have the freedom to stay as long as you like and who doesn’t want that?
1. Agathi Beach
Located 10 kilometers (6 miles) north of Lindos and 40 km (25 miles) southeast of Rhodes town, Agathi Beach is a stunning sandy beach next to the Medieval castle of Faraklos. It offers scenic views with its golden sand and turquoise-colored water. There are sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, and a restaurant available on the beach. Agathi Beach should definitely be on your Rhodes travel itinerary.
2. Kallithea Beach
Located just 8 km (5 miles) south of Rhodes town, Kallithea Beach is known for its beautiful watercolor and scenic surroundings. There are a series of rocky coves and rivers along the coast here with deep water so it’s best for strong swimmers, not so much for families.
There used to be a medical spring here but unfortunately, the water has dried up and it is no longer functioning. You can still see the Arabic-inspired mosaics inside the beach pavilion though. There are cafes and restaurants available, and sunbeds and umbrellas can be rented.
3. Anthony Quinn Bay
Located 20 km (12 miles) south of Rhodes Town, Anthony Quinn Bay is one of the best beaches in Rhodes and I highly recommend you to allow time to swim in this stunning beach. The beach’s name comes from the film “The Guns of Navarone”, which was shot there.
Thanks to its location which is protected from the wind, the water is always calm and in perfect condition to swim. Sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, and cafes are available on the beach. I’m sure you will snap the best Instagram photos on picturesque Anthony Quinn Bay!
